A journalist from ARISE Television and Biodun Ajiboye, the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, disagreed on Saturday over President Bola Tinubu’s accomplishments.
According to reports, Ajiboye claimed she seemed unaware of what was going on in Nigeria when questioned about the socioeconomic indices of the current administration.
The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed that the journalist is ignorant of the events and changes under President Tinubu because she has restricted herself to the studio.
“You probably don’t know what is going on in Nigeria just because you’re always in the studio,” he remarked.
Ajiboye went on to discuss the positive things the party has accomplished, but he did not offer information on which socioeconomic indicators—such as life expectancy, maternal mortality, childhood education, poverty levels, and health outcomes—have improved under the President.
“When you have the kind of economic confusion and doldrums that we had in Nigeria, a lot of reasons account for the economic situation,” he said, placing the blame on the late former president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. We encountered a great deal of economic misunderstanding regarding numerous aspects.
“Our borrowings were skyrocketing, a subsidy was a cankerworm, we printed N30 trillion to inject money into the economy indiscriminately, and all of those were situations that needed a quick fix. There were situations that will exaggerate poverty, will exaggerate social, social protection.”
