According to Oba Maduabuchi, a senior advocate for Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot advance without a ruling from the Supreme Court.
During an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Maduabuchi said this.
He said that the Court of Appeal supported the Pro-Wike faction’s expulsion.
The senior attorney pointed out that notwithstanding this, the same individuals were chosen to serve on the National Working Committee at the PDP’s most recent national convention.
He claims that Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court’s decision is inconsistent, pointing out that “you can’t say the Pro-Wike faction was rightly expelled from the party and then affirm Abdulrahman Mohammed-led administration as authentic.”
We must go back to the beginning in order to recognize how terrible things have become. Everyone acknowledged Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP’s national chairman.
“Umar Damagum took his place after he was removed. Despite these difficulties, Damagum remained in office until December 2025, when his term came to an end.
That’s when our issues began. Mohammed Abdulrahman unexpectedly assumed the role of chairman or acting chairman of the caretaker committee. Personally, I had no idea how he came to be.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was notified by Damagum NWC that they would be holding a meeting to discuss holding their convention and other matters, and INEC agreed. They had twenty-one days.
Certain individuals were dismissed or expelled from the party during the conference. In actuality, PDP cannot advance without a ruling from the Supreme Court,” he said.
