Nafiu Bala Explains ADC Unveiling Attendance, Alleges David Mark Was Imposed

A factional national chairperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has acknowledged that he was there when David Mark’s interim leadership was established in July 2025.

With two factions commanded by Mark and Bala, it marked the start of ADC’s internal conflict.

In response to a Court of Appeal decision on March 12, INEC declared on Wednesday that it would not recognize either organization.

Videos of Bala at the ADC meeting went viral on social media on Monday.

However, Bala stated in a statement on Tuesday that no agreement was reached to select Mark during the meeting.

“The former National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, was given the opportunity to speak, and he shocked everyone by announcing his resignation as National Chairman,” Bala stated.

“He then designated Sen. David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as Acting National Chairman and National Secretary and gave them membership cards.”

According to Bala, Nwosu’s conduct violated Articles 8(2) and 9(4) of the 2022 modified ADC Constitution.

Additionally, he stated that an outgoing chairman is not permitted by the constitution to choose a replacement.
