Amaechi Urges ADC to Field Strong Candidate, Says Tinubu Won’t Hand Over Power

On Tuesday, Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, told the African Democratic Congress to come together and put forward a good candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi made the call during a speech at the party’s national convention in Abuja, according to reports.

Amaechi told party members that everyone needs to work together and that winning in 2027 would require careful planning and agreement.

Amaechi said, “ADC needs to choose a good candidate.” We won’t get power from President Tinubu.

He also asked about supposed efforts to limit the activities of the opposition.

He asked, “Why would government officials stop you from gathering when the constitution says you can?”

The ex-governor of Rivers State said that the current government is going against democratic values.

“How can a man who said he was a democrat be stopping democracy?” He said, “Tell me what to tell President Tinubu.”

Amaechi also said that those in power were not putting governance first.

He also criticized the government for the growing sense of danger in the country, saying that many Nigerians have been killed, forced to leave their homes, or kidnapped.

Amaechi told ADC leaders to work together and offer a real alternative to the current government.

The former minister made a strong statement accusing some government officials of putting their own interests ahead of serving the public.

If you say I did something I didn’t do, I’ll do whatever it takes to defend myself, but these guys don’t care at all. Money is what they care about.

Amaechi went on to say, “They don’t deny that they are thieves and land grabbers.”
