Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has spoken out against the recent national convention organized by the David-Mark faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He said it was disorganized and not credible.
On Saturday, he posted a strongly worded message on his X account, saying that the event showed poor planning and lack of unity among the participants. He claimed that people looked uncomfortable because the facilities weren’t up to par, such as the lack of working air conditioning.
A few days ago, I saw a group of ADC members having what they called their party convention, and it was sad.
He said, “I saw a hall that was too full of hot, sweaty men and women.”
He also said that the meeting was marked by disorderly behavior and confusion among those who were there.
“They sweated a lot, yelled at each other, and got into fights.”
He went on to tell a story about an older participant who accidentally mentioned another party during his speech, which he said made things uncomfortable.
“He grabbed the microphone and yelled ‘APC’ before he realized he was at an ADC Convention,” he said.
Fani-Kayode also said that the event’s overall look and feel were not serious or cohesive.
“Please forgive me for saying this, but this was a strange group of people who didn’t know what they were doing or where they were going.
“What we saw was more of a group of hungry, ragged, and desperate jackals and long-rejected souls who want to get back into power than the Convention of a real and serious political party.”
“Mr. President was right to call theirs a “street Convention.” He didn’t say that it was a street convention for vagabonds, riggers, and wanderers. He said.
He said that the faction’s political power is not a real threat to future elections.
“What’s the bottom line? He ended by saying, “The ADC ain’t going nowhere!”
