PDP Urges INEC to Delist Anyanwu as National Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about a court ruling that upholds the removal of Senator Samuel Anyanwu and demands that he no longer be recognized as the party’s National Secretary.

The PDP wrote to the INEC Chairman through its lawyers, Chief Chris Uche (SAN) & Co., to say that a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory had ruled on January 12, 2026, that Anyanwu was no longer a member or officer of the party.

The party said that its National Disciplinary Committee had already suggested that Anyanwu be kicked out for doing things that were against the party, and the leadership later agreed with that decision.

Anyanwu has filed an appeal against the ruling, but the PDP said that this does not mean that the execution is on hold.

The party says that the judgment is still valid and must be followed until a higher court says otherwise.

The PDP said that the ruling must be enforced by INEC based on constitutional provisions.

The party said that INEC’s decision to keep recognizing Anyanwu after the court’s decision was an insult to the judiciary.

It told the commission to take away all of the honors it had given him since January 12, including official letters, and to stop doing business with him in any way.

The PDP also wanted his name to be taken off of INEC’s official records right away.

The party said that if INEC didn’t follow the rules, it could face legal action, such as contempt proceedings against the commission’s leaders.

It hoped that the electoral body would act quickly to stop what it called a growing perception that it was allowing instability to grow within opposition parties.
