Bola Ahmed Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Darma, Yuguda

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to check and confirm Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic.

Reports say that the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, read the request on the floor of the Senate and then sent it to the Committee of the Whole for more legislative action.

Akpabio told the committee to give a report back as soon as possible.

The nomination comes just a few days after Tinubu fired Wale Edun from his jobs as Minister of Finance and Minister of the Economy, along with Ahmed Dangiwa.

The President also asked the Senate in a different letter to approve the appointment of Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions got the nomination and is expected to report back in a week.

Tinubu also asked for confirmation that Benedict Umeno would be reappointed as a member of the Code of Conduct Bureau, where he would represent the South-East.

The Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption was given the request, and it had a week to write its report.
