Mustapha Musa popularly known as Kulas, senator representing Yobe East has pulled out of the race for the 2027 elections and declared support for Governor Mai Mala Buni as his choice of a successor in the National Assembly.

“I have aligned with the decision of the party leaders and the political arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Musa said in a statement announcing his withdrawal.

The senator said he would not be seeking the ticket or any other elective position.

“Hereby I officially renounce the contest for the ticket,” he said.

Musa also asked his supporters to stop sharing campaign materials promoting him for any elective office.

It was learnt that Musa congratulated a former Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Baba Mallam Wali, who has emerged as the preferred governorship candidate of the party leadership.

He wished Wali and all other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates success in the coming elections.

The senator, who was earlier nursing the governorship ticket, appreciated Buni and the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, for their “mentorship and sustained support”.

Their support, he said, shaped his political journey from his early roles as Executive Secretary of Yobe State Scholarship Board to commissioner and later Senator.
