According to Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo, the South West Coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso, OK Movement, about 10 million Nigerians registered with the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) within 24 hours of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi joining the party.
In front of the upcoming general elections, Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso reportedly defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday in favor of the NDC.
Some have criticized the development, saying that Obi’s chances of becoming president of Nigeria are diminishing.
In response, Adebayo refuted the assertion in an interview with Arise TV on Monday, claiming that Obi’s supporters were spread throughout the six geopolitical zones.
She claims that it is more about Obi’s character and skills than his political affiliation.
“Mr. Peter Obi has a lot of followers throughout Nigeria,” she stated. You cannot claim that the South East’s or Obi’s chances have decreased.
“10 million Nigerians registered with NDC just 24 hours after Peter Obi left ADC, and that says a lot.”
