Lami Calista, mother of Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, has alleged that her ex-husband kicked their daughter out of his house and asked for ₦30 million before she could come back.
Calista made the claim in a video shared on social media.
She was responding to a viral video recording in which she appeared to disown her daughter.
The recording had Lami blaming her daughter and telling her to never contact her again.
“Ilebaye don’t look for me, because if I die today, you have contribute in my death. Hold your father whom you love so much.
“You’re always defending your father that you love so much. I am not your mommy. This is the end even if I die, don’t look for me. I interrupted you today,” she had said.
However, Calista said the recording was a misunderstanding and said it was part of a planned effort between herself and Ilebaye due to ongoing family tensions.
“I want to clear something up that was brought up yesterday about me leaving her in that video,” she said. Yes, I did that video, I have my reasons for doing that video.
It was a team effort between myself and my daughter to get that video out. The father is always saying that Baye is taking me away from his house.
The father also drove her out of the house. Since I left, she should leave the house as well. Her father said he would take her back in the house only if she gives him N30 million. “I came and I begged him to allow her in that later she will give him the money.”
Lami appealed to Nigerians not to criticize her daughter, saying Ilebaye has been fighting family battles away from social media.
“Please Nigerians, I beg you people, don’t judge her, that girl has been through a lot. I’m not coming out here for a your pity vote, people. I am here to speak the truth.
I don’t think if you were in her shoes you can take what she’s taking.” If you see she is not on social media, it is because she is fighting with family issues in the house.
If she hadn’t called for help, she wouldn’t have made it through that night. Thank you and God bless you,” she added.
The development is coming days after the Federal Capital Territory Police Command announced the arrest of Emmanuel Odiniya over an alleged assault on Ilebaye at a house in Wuye, Abuja.
