Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, the Nasarawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for 2027 has urged the party to remain calm and united.
He was also said to have asked former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar to return to the APC. He made the appeal during a thank-you visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House, Lafia after emerging as the party’s flag bearer.
The visit attracted leaders of the APC, government officials and supporters from different parts of the state. Governor Sule received the delegation and described it as a proud moment for the party, reiterating his support for Wadada’s candidacy, and expressing confidence in his chances going into the 2027 election.
Sule also spoke on the need for peace in the party after the primary election.
He called on members not to be antagonistic against opponents and to keep calm and respectful relations with each other, saying all those who were jostling for positions in the state were still members of the same political family.
He also assured him that he would give Wadada space to lead without interference except where necessary.
On the political development, Wadada recalled how he accepted defeat in a past primary and still worked for the success of the party.
He took advantage of that to cajole Mohammed Adamu Abubakar who also vied for the APC primary to return and support the party’s agenda in Nasarawa State and not be outside it.
“Those who are contesting against us are not our enemies. They too believe in Nasarawa State. Let us approach them with caution not with hatred. Let us love them.”
“I conceded to a defeat in 2018 to 2019 and not only conceded but submitted myself to the party and government which culminated in me spearheading the campaign council that gave us our proud engineer Abdullahi Sule.
I say to him: ‘Learn from me. “When and if he does that he is not doing it for Wadada but he is doing it for Nasarawa State,” he said.
