A senatorial aspirant for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, has revealed how some party leaders allegedly manipulated the primary election.
The activist-turned politician was reportedly in the race for the FCT Senate, but withdrew over allegations of misconduct against officials.
In a lengthy statement on how the primary election was held, Aisha alleged that the exercise was held in a closed room with “predetermined outcome dressed in procedural formalities”.
The venue was also “changed at the last minute,” she said, while the exercise was “repeatedly postponed.”
Aisha alleged that “Party guidelines were not followed.” Introduced delegate based process to be conducted at a central location instead of direct primaries to be conducted at Local Government headquarters
“When the moment came, the contest wasn’t decided by delegates in the open; it was confirmed in a closed room, far from the people whose voices it was supposed to reflect.
“The party will surely go ahead to issue statements upon statements of the free and fair nature of the Abuja FCT primaries.
“ they have their voice, but the facts that happened when litigated by conscience and the guidelines of the electoral act does not reflect justice and fairness”.
