The Federal Government is working hard to ensure the release of children and other Nigerians in the hands of kidnappers and terrorist groups across the country, Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians.
Shettima gave the assurance on Friday in Abuja after a special Jummat prayer at the National Mosque as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

He said the administration was committed to overcoming security challenges and bringing long-lasting calm to the affected communities.
According to the Vice President, the government would continue to work towards ending violence and criminal activities, adding that the present security situation would not hinder efforts to return Nigeria back to normalcy.
He said the citizens should continue praying for the country and each other.
He said the bond that unites Nigerians is stronger than the differences that exist among the people, stressing the need for unity as the nation confronts her challenges.
“I want to assure Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu unwavering commitment in the pursuit of peace and stability in the country.
No matter how long the night, it must give way to the light of dawn. It may be stormy but it will not rain forever.
“The government is absolutely committed to bringing peace and stability back to this country,” Shettima said.
