The Kano State Police on Thursday confirmed the arrest of the mastermind behind the insurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths in Kano.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, S P Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed that a team of policemen deployed at Kofar Mata/Zango junction near Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano arrested one Kabiru Jamilu, 21 years old, a resident of Zango Quarters Kano.”
According to the statement, the suspect was identified as the mastermind behind the resurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths.
During preliminary investigations, Jamilu was said to have, according to the statement, “confessed to spearheading the fighting, while further investigations led to the arrest of Umar Garba, 32, a resident of Zango Quarters Kano, who was found in possession of a sharp long knife.”
Both suspects, the statement further revealed, have been transferred to the command’s Criminal Investigations Department and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
It added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, “urged residents of Kofar Mata and Zango Quarters to cooperate with the police by providing valuable information to completely address the situation.”
