Unknown gunmen have killed a village head, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, in Kaduna State.
Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that the deceased was the head of Marke in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The gunmen were said to have entered the residence of the victim at about 12.30am on Thursday and sent everyone out of the compound while searching for Malam Kabiru who was hiding inside the ceiling alongside his elder brother Tukur Mohammed.
According to a member of the community, who pleaded for anonymity, the victim was later discovered by the gunmen after which they slaughtered him and set the house ablaze.
Reacting, the councillor of Dandamisa Ward, Alhaji Aminu Sani Marke, who confirmed the incident, said the body of the late village head could not be recovered as the house was burnt down.
He said, “The gunmen spent about one hour operating in the village and went away with valuables worth millions of naira.”
The late Kabiru Muhammad, aged 30 years, was turbaned as the village head of Marke in 2018.
Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Command to react on the matter proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
