China Wins First Olympic Gold Medal In Mixed Team Air Rifle Shooting

China, on Saturday, clinched the first gold medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics games in France.

The Chinese team clinched the gold medal in shooting 10m air rifle mixed team event thanks to teenaged duo Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao.

Their 16-12 win, halting a late challenge from the South Korean duo Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun, ensured China remained the only country to win the gold in the mixed team event introduced in Tokyo 2020 games.

Also, China won a second gold medal at Paris 2024 this time in the women’s synchronised 3m springboard.

The gold medal was won by Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen, who dominated in the event making it the sixth title in a row for China in this event dating back to Athens 2004.

United States pair of Sarah Bacon and Kassidy won silver medal, which means they landed their country’s first medal in Paris.

Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen claimed a first-ever bronze for Team Great Britain in diving women’s synchronised 3m springboard.

This summer’s Olympic first medal was won by Kazakhstan, which was bronze in shooting 10m air rifle mixed team.

It is Kazakhstan’s first Olympic medal in shooting since Atlanta 1996.
