No fewer than four people, including a woman named Ashiru Oluwatoyin, her two sons, and other family members, were reportedly attacked by suspected hoodlums in the Odogboro community, Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the victims were attacked around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the trouble began in the community when Oluwatoyin, along with her sons, Noah Odunukan and Owolabi Odunukan, and a relative, Olarewaju Sholaye, left their residence in the Makun community to attend a family meeting on a piece of land in the Odogboro Farm Settlement, Government Residential Area Extension, Sagamu.

As the meeting was underway, our correspondent learnt that the victims were allegedly set upon by suspects who stormed the venue armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons.

A police officer familiar with the incident, who requested anonymity because he was not authorised to speak for the command, said Oluwatoyin, Owolabi, Noah, and Sholaye sustained varying degrees of injuries after the attack.

“They left their residence to hold a meeting on a piece of family-owned land. However, during the meeting, they were allegedly attacked by suspected hoodlums who stormed the area armed with machetes and sticks,” the cop narrated.

Commenting on the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said a manhunt had been launched to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.

“One of the woman’s sons reported to the Sagamu Police Station that he received a call informing him that his mother and other family members had been attacked by hoodlums, led by someone known as Genegene, while they were holding a meeting on their property in Sagamu.

“The woman, her two sons, and other family members sustained injuries. The suspected hoodlums also made off with plastic chairs valued at N98,000 that they were using for the meeting.

“Some of the suspects, including Ganiyu Onimole, popularly known as Genegene, Okashike Onimole, Lekan Onimole, and others who have yet to be identified, fled the scene when our officers from the division arrived.

She explained that the victims have been rushed to Livewell Hospital in Ajaka, Sagamu, for medical treatment, stating, “Our operatives have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
