Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure a landslide victory in the upcoming local government elections in the state, scheduled for this Saturday, September 21.

The governor made this statement during the grand finale of the party’s campaign rally at Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, which was attended by party supporters and candidates for various elective positions.

He expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious, attributing this to its popularity at the grassroots and its people-oriented policies.

Uzodinma emphasized the importance of party members rallying around the leadership and supporting the candidates to ensure an all-around victory after the election.

The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of local government autonomy, which Imo State has embraced to strengthen the local government system. He believes this will reduce hunger, suffering, and the cost of living.

He acknowledged that the local government election had been delayed since 2021 due to insecurity and banditry, but assured the public that Saturday’s election would be free, fair, and transparent.

The governor urged those opposed to his administration to use the opportunity provided by the local government elections to vote for their preferred parties on Saturday.

In his speech, the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, encouraged the candidates to make the party proud, stating that being chosen among other aspirants should give them the courage to perform well in the field.

Speaking with our correspondent, Solomon Ihemadu, a party member, stated that the APC is ready to participate in the election after concluding its campaign rally.

He maintained that the APC-led administration is committed to offering good leadership, particularly in rural areas, if successful in the local government elections.

Among those who attended the rally was the party’s National Vice President for the Southeast zone, Ijeomah Arodiogbu, who expressed optimism that the party would win all the 305 INEC wards and 27 LGAs.

He called on opposition parties to exhibit maturity and abide by ISIEC guidelines to ensure a peaceful election.
