The Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, is set to hold the second national edition of its quiz competition in 2025.

Known as the ‘Roseline Etwuokwu Sigma Secondary School National Quiz Competition,’ the event aims to promote academic excellence and inspire young minds.

The social and philanthropic organisation focuses on philanthropy, discipline, integrity, and national development.

“This initiative was borne out of the need to promote healthy rivalries among secondary schools and also reward the efforts of diligent students in secondary schools while serving as a source of inspiration to other students,” the National Coordinator, Olaoluwa Olagoke, said in a Tuesday statement.

“As a student organisation, we observed that the passion for academic excellence has been on the decline in our country, with cybercrime and other social vices on the rise.

“To combat this menace, this competition was borne to encourage all students nationwide,” Olagoke added.

The upcoming edition will run from March to May 2025 in three stages: state, regional, and national.

Prizes of N200,000, N500,000, and N5,000,000 will be awarded to winners at each stage respectively.

State winners will compete at the regional level to secure representation for their geopolitical zone on the national stage.

The statement noted that participating schools are required to present their top male and female students (except for single-sex schools) from the senior secondary class.

The tests will cover Mathematics, English Language, and General Knowledge.
