The Osun State Command of the Amotekun Corps on Tuesday paraded one Olalekan Mashood, who was arrested for allegedly stealing livestock in Kuta town.
Parading the suspect alongside others arrested for various crimes across the state in Osogbo, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Dr Isaac Omoyele, stated that Mashood was apprehended in Kuta while fleeing with two sheep suspected to have been stolen.
Omoyele, who said the suspect admitted to committing the crime, added that Mashood was a serial goat thief operating in the Iwo area.
“On 22/09/2024, at about 11:45 hrs, Amotekun operatives, acting on credible intelligence, laid an ambush at a bush path in Kuta town via Iwo and arrested one Olalekan Mashood, who specialised in stealing goats.
“The suspect was eventually apprehended with two sheep, which he confessed to having stolen,” Omoyele said.
Also presented before journalists was a fake bank manager, Taiwo Badro, who was arrested for allegedly defrauding people.
Others paraded included Musbau Ganiyu (28), Rasheed Abdullahi (28), Kayode Odesanmi (37), Afeez Ayuba (27), and Awal Adebayo (18).
Giving details of the offences committed by the suspects, Omoyele said Badro posed as a bank manager and admitted under interrogation that she defrauded many people, especially in Lagos State, before relocating to Osun.
He said, “Our men apprehended the suspect on 19 October at about 14:45 after she defrauded one Fatai Saheed of about N4.5 million.”
Assuring the readiness of the Corps to collaborate with other security agencies in the state and rid Osun of criminals, Omoyele stated that the suspects would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
