The House did not call Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike to address the increase in crime in the nation’s capital, according to information released on Wednesday by Hon. Ahmed Satomi, the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence.
Hon. Satomi denied rumors that the House had called in Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the recently appointed Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), in a media interaction with humanitarian correspondents.
Recall that the House ordered its joint committees on FCT, Police, and National Intelligence to conduct an investigation on Tuesday after adopting a motion sponsored by Hon. Dabo Haruna (APC Bauchi) over the unsettling actions of criminals, commonly referred to as “One Chance,” in the FCT.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, the DG DSS, and the FCT Minister were called by the House, according to reports from several media outlets on Wednesday.

In his report on the motion presented yesterday on the House floor by Hon. Dabo Haruna regarding the murder of his Legislative Aide, Miss Na’imi Sulaiman, and the necessity of addressing the actions of ‘One Chance’ operators in the Federal Capital Territory, he stated: “I want to correct the mistake made by most of you in the report.”
Hon. Haruna made the motion, and Hon. Mohammed Isa Anja seconded it. After it was approved, the House sent it to the appropriate committees for any necessary legislative action.
“The House only required the Committees on National Intelligence, Police, and FCT to carry out a thorough investigation and communicate with the relevant parties, including the FCT Minister, the FCT Commissioner of Police, and the DG DSS, in order to guarantee that the offenders are held accountable and that the issue of ‘One Chance’ incidents is resolved.
“Although the joint committees have not yet begun their legislative work on the motion as required by the House, I want to reassure Nigerians that they will look into the matter thoroughly and make sure that security agencies capture the offenders so they can be held accountable.”

Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the recently appointed Director General of the Department of State Services, is a seasoned intelligence and security expert who is anticipated to use his extensive experience to combat crime in the Federal Capital Territory and its surrounding areas, Hon. Satomi pointed out.
“I want to urge you to be careful and double-check your facts at all times to prevent distorting information. Everybody looks in the mirror of the media, so we have to report the facts,” he said.
Remember how the late Miss Sulaiman, a Legislative Aide in Hon. Dabo Haruna’s National Assembly office, was cruelly killed by her “One Chance” kidnappers despite a ransom being paid?
