Nigeria’s Super Eagles will end the Year 2024 in 44th spot in FIFA’s world rankings.
According to the global rankings published yesterday by the world soccer governing body (FIFA) on its official website, Coach Augustine Eguavoen’s team maintained their 5th position in Africa.
The three-time African champions dropped eight places to 44th position in November’s ranking, but maintained the same spot in December’s ranking despite not playing any football match in the month under review.
Only 21 international matches were played across the globe over the past weeks since the previous rankings.
Super Eagles 2026 World Cup qualifying group rivals, South Africa are ranked 10th in Africa and 57th in global rankings, while Morocco remained African best football team and 14th in the world. Senegal maintained Africa’s second best team position, followed by Egypt in third position, Alegeria 4th, Nigeria 5th, Cote d’Ivoire 6th, Cameroon 7th, Mali 8th, Tunisia 9th and South Africa 10th respectively.
At the world level, there was no change in the top 10 as Argentina lead the way from France and Euro 2024 champions Spain, with England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Germany completing the unchanged top 10.
