TheNigerian Metro reported a similar incident in April 2023, when a child, believed to be only a day old, was abandoned near a church by the roadside in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The baby girl was abandoned by the roadside, and an unknown resident, who was on her way to a store in the area, heard her crying helplessly in the early hours of the morning.
The baby, believed to be one day old, was taken from the scene and sent to the Ikorodu General Hospital for treatment.
Similarly, a report by TheNigerian Metro on April 18, detailed how a day-old baby boy, who had been abandoned in a polythene bag, was rescued on Alhaji Masha Road in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
The baby was rescued by the police and subsequently taken to a hospital for medical attention.
