The Rivers State House of Assembly has given Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara a 48-hour deadline to deliver the 2025 budget to the lawmakers.
The MPs reportedly made this demand on Monday, March 3, 2025, during the session in Port Harcourt.
This development occurs soon after Anabs Sara-Igbe, a well-known Ijaw leader in Rivers State, voiced concerns about the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the political crisis in Rivers State, claiming that it is biased and influenced by special interests.
The response from Sara-Igbe comes after Governor Fubara promised Rivers citizens that his administration would carry out the Supreme Court’s decision as soon as it received a Certified True Copy (CTC) of it.

The governor’s declaration came after the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the October 5, 2024, local government elections in Rivers State were void.

The Supreme Court also directed the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop distributing federal funds to state local governments.
