According to the presidency, Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has a dismal political future.
According to reports, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, made the claim in response to Ifeanyi Okowa, the PDP’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
After the PDP governors disassociated themselves from Atiku’s coalition plan and the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) reaffirmed their allegiance to President Bola Tinubu, Tinubu’s adviser, Tunde Rahman, implied in a post on X that the plan is doomed to fail.
He wrote, “For the coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, things are really getting dangerous and the future looks so bleak.” The former CPC wing, on which he also relies, has expressed support for President Tinubu after the PDP Governors cleared their hands of any such coalition proposal.
He had the biggest shock of his life today. Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his running mate for the 2023 election, and Okowa’s successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, abandoned the sinking PDP ship and boarded the APC aircraft, presumably switching to the PBAT side. In fact, the tally of PDP governors who have switched to the APC has already started.
“Isn’t the Atiku coalition already dead? According to what my people say, Friday will give rise to the first signs of a terrific Saturday.
Onanuga responded to the tweet by calling Atiku a bitter loser and emphasizing the breakdown of his alliance with Northern politicians and Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State.
“Atiku’s political future appears bleak,” he remarked. The alliance he, Babachir, El Rufai, and the newcomer Baba-Ahmed were scheming to form has fallen apart.
Potential supporters are ignoring his leprous bunch, including former running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and former CPC members. Once more, Atiku is a loser.
