2027: PDP Will Suffer Crushing Defeat, Hauled Away On A Stretcher

Professor Okey Ikechukwu, a public affairs commentator and policy researcher, has said that the PDP is not prepared to win the 2027 elections.
He claims that the PDP’s house is in such chaos that, in the 2027 elections, the party poses no challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview with Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Friday, Professor Ikechukwu reflected on the PDP’s past as a strong party but bemoaned the fact that it has now reached a very low position and is finding it difficult to rise.

He argued that the PDP will lose badly at the polls and will have to be taken out on a stretcher unless it can overcome its internal issue in time for the 2027 elections.

The PDP is a very strong party that waged successful campaigns under former Presidents Obasanjo, Audu Ogbe, and even Atiku (Abubakar), according to the policy expert. I believe you had three campaign teams in 2003. It has now diminished to a whimpering assemblage of confused individuals posing as members of a political party.

Apart from discussing its disputes, what else does the PDP do today? Sometimes, it issues press releases that criticize the APC, claiming that this is political opposition.

Ikechukwu went on to say that in addition to losing its status as the ruling party, the PDP has also fallen short in its ability to offer the ruling administration legitimate opposition.

He bemoaned the fact that neither the electorate nor politicians find the party appealing.

The entire purpose of opposition is to portray yourself in a way that will make you appealing to the next person and cause them to think, “No, no, no, I need this man to replace this other guy; they don’t know what they are doing.”

Tell me what makes the PDP appealing in the modern era, please. It is very disorganized on the inside,” he continued.

There’s a Chance of Failure
If the PDP wants to gain anything significant from the 2027 elections, the policy analyst encouraged it to get its house in order immediately.

It sounds counterintuitive, yet it will participate in the next election without running for office.

If there isn’t a dramatic reconfiguration within that party, with obvious attention to the need to change the optics of people you see in the party, Ikechukwu stated, “You are participating in an event, but your preparation is such that we know you are going to get there and get thoroughly beaten and carried on a stretcher.”

The Wike Factor
Even though Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, is a political asset to any party, Professor Ikechukwu said the PDP should be ashamed that the former governor is still a member because of his alleged anti-party actions.

Noting that such indices are only making the party more absurd in the political arena, he accused the PDP of being responsible for the party’s failure to control Wike or bring him to account.

“Wike, whether you like him or not, you have to ask yourself: is this man a fool?” Ikechukwu asked. No, is the response. Is he doing this with knowledge? Perhaps. Can you ignore him? No, is the response. Given everything that Wike has done and continues to do, the PDP ought to be ashamed that he is still a member.

Wike would be a political asset to anybody he works for, thus the PDP should feel ashamed that it has failed to manage someone of his caliber. He is a political advantage to the people he is now working for. However, the fact that he was able to use both lanes and reach speeds of 160 km/h indicates that there is no traffic control.

“With all due respect to the esteemed members of that party, the PDP is making itself appear more absurd every hour, not just every day. They ought to quit deluding themselves.
