Senator Ken Eze, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and representative of Ebonyi Central, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for establishing what he described as a solid foundation for Nigeria’s economic recovery and infrastructural transformation.

Speaking to journalists over the weekend in Abakaliki, Eze said the administration has made bold and strategic moves despite inheriting a nation grappling with long-standing economic and security challenges.

“The rot in the system didn’t begin in the last two years. It’s been a gradual decline over decades. President Tinubu met a distressed economy and has begun the hard work of rebuilding,” Senator Eze stated.

He pointed to key policy reforms, notably the controversial removal of the fuel subsidy, as necessary steps to prevent fiscal collapse. According to him, the removal has expanded financial capacity at all levels of government, allowing for the funding of critical infrastructure and improved public sector wages.

“Today, federal, state, and local governments are receiving four to five times their previous allocations. Roads, railways, and coastal highways that were once dreams are now becoming reality,” he noted.

Eze also praised the President’s appointments in key ministries such as Works and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), crediting them with driving visible infrastructural development across the country.

“Abuja now showcases the results of effective leadership. Gone are the days of political patronage. We’re seeing professionals delivering on their mandates,” he said.

Addressing concerns over food inflation and insecurity, the Senator blamed economic sabotage by hoarders and cross-border smugglers. He called on citizens to support government initiatives aimed at stabilizing prices and ensuring food security.

Highlighting the role of the 10th National Assembly, Eze described the current Senate as a “corrective” force focused on legislative reforms and fiscal accountability. He disclosed that new tax legislation is underway to eliminate double taxation and reduce the burden on businesses and individuals.

“Contrary to public perception, the Senate maintains healthy oversight. Governance is not about confrontation but cooperation. President Tinubu respects the independence of the legislature and engages constructively,” he affirmed.

Eze concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the people of Ebonyi Central and urged all Nigerians to take active roles in national development.

“I was drafted into politics by the people, and I remain committed to service with integrity. The task of building a better Nigeria is a collective one,” he said.
