Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, the suspended speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, have all appeared in public for the first time.
The public appearance reportedly takes place just two days after President Bola Tinubu mediated a settlement between the opposing factions over the political crisis in Rivers State.
Prior to Thursday’s peace meeting with President Tinubu, the three major political leaders had been embroiled in a political crisis for almost two years. The parties resolved their disputes and decided to cooperate for the sake of the state.

Wike, Amaewhule, and Fubara attended the funeral of Wike’s uncle in Rumuepirikom, the FCT Minister’s hometown in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Senators George Thompson Sekibo, Olaka Nwogu, and Allwell Onyesoh were among the important political figures that attended the funeral service.
Others include former House of Representatives Member Hon. Ken Chikere, South-South Vice Chairman of the ACP Victor Giadom, former PDP Deputy National Chairman Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche.
The three political leaders’ presence in one location has rekindled optimism that the crisis that resulted in the creation of a state of emergency three months ago may be coming to a conclusion, even though no political pronouncements were made during the occasion.
