The North is firmly behind President Bola Tinubu to hold onto office for an additional four years, according to the All Progressives Congress, which has stated that there won’t be a vacancy in Aso Rock, the seat of power, till 2031.
APC national secretary Ajibola Bashiru specifically made this statement on Monday in Ibadan during a media roundtable hosted by the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
He criticized the ADC coalition as a “contraption” and a “mushroom party” made up of self-serving people with no political significance.
The northern APC structures, which name Sokoto, Bauchi, Kebbi, and Zamfara as states that support Mr. Tinubu’s 2027 ambition, are firmly behind it, according to Mr. Bashiru.
In contrast to those circulating unfounded “beer-parlour gossip,” the politician noted, powerful northern leaders are supporting Mr. Tinubu. He urged opposition candidates to wait for their turn, claiming that there won’t be a vacancy at Aso Rock until 2031.

Talk of a northern plot against Mr. Tinubu’s 2027 ambition was also refuted by Mr. Bashiru. According to him, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe all welcomed the president.
“The allegation that the North is banding together against Tinubu is a complete fabrication. I say this because I know. I’m not a weakling. “I live by Amilcar Cabral’s advice: ‘Tell no lies, claim no easy victories,'” Bashiru said.
With apparent public celebrations in several states, including Kano, Katsina, and Gombe, he emphasized that northern support for Tinubu remained strong. “Omo Ologo,” a song by Dauda Kahutu Rarara for Mr. Tinubu, has become an anthem in the North, according to the APC chieftain.
He asserts that the APC’s widespread acceptance is demonstrated by its impressive win percentage of over 75% in recent off-cycle elections.
“Our party’s supporters are Nigerians, not Togolese, Cameroonians, or foreigners,” he said.
Mr. Bashiru gave Mr. Tinubu high marks for his inclusive leadership, advancements in infrastructure, and expanding support across the North. He asserted that there was no crisis or danger to the APC as a result of the resignation of former chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
