Auxano Solar Reaches New Milestone: IEC Certification Secured for Solar Panels

For its photovoltaic (PV) modules, Auxano Solar, one of Nigeria’s top solar panel assemblers, has earned the esteemed IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 certifications, marking an important turning point in its clean energy path.

TÜV Rheinland, a worldwide renowned testing and certification organization, granted these certificates, confirming that Auxano’s solar panels adhere to strict international requirements for durability, performance, and safety.

The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) provided venture-building support by partnering with the All On Hub to facilitate the certification process.

Thanks to this assistance, Auxano was able to improve its operational and technical capabilities, successfully complete the challenging certification procedure, and further its goal of providing dependable, high-quality solar solutions.

“The certification of Auxano Solar is a potent example of how local innovation can meet international standards and significantly aid national development initiatives when backed by the appropriate resources,” stated Caroline Eboumbou, CEO of All On.

“We are honored to have partnered with GEAPP to assist Auxano on this journey, which not only demonstrates the caliber of solar technology produced in Nigeria but also fortifies the groundwork for a more sustainable and inclusive energy future in Nigeria.”

The accomplishment, according to Eboumbou, is a watershed for Nigeria’s renewable energy industry since it confirms the caliber and viability of domestically produced solar technology.

As the first Nigerian solar panel assembler to achieve these international standards, Auxano Solar’s certification boosts trust in the nation’s clean energy potential and opens the door to utility-scale projects and export prospects.

Auxano Solar’s CEO, Chuks Umezulora, spoke about the accomplishment and conveyed his delight in the company’s advancement and its impact on the energy industry as a whole.

For its solar panels, Auxano Solar is pleased to be the first domestic manufacturer to obtain TÜV certification. This certification is a critical turning point in fostering confidence in Nigerian locally made panels. Our goal is to make Nigerian solar panels as well-known as Nigerian wires.

We are committed to quality and innovation in the solar energy industry, as evidenced by our achievement of the IEC certifications, he said.

In addition to increasing our market presence, this achievement will support the growth of the local solar energy value chain, lowering the cost and increasing the accessibility of solar power for Nigerians.

Additionally, the accreditation places Auxano Solar in a favorable position to support high-impact energy access projects like the Distributed Access via Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) program and the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP).

GEAPP, the Rockefeller Foundation, the World Bank, the African Development Bank (AfDB), and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) are supporting these efforts, which have as their goal electrifying 300 million people in Africa by 2030.

Auxano Solar began operations in 2016 and has now installed about 15 megawatts of solar panels throughout Nigeria. In Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, the company has a 100 megawatt solar panel assembly plant that puts it in a strong position to help Nigeria move toward a clean, resilient, and self-sustaining energy future.
