Hannatu Musawa: Why Power Should Remain In The South For The Next 6 Years

In order to maintain equity and balance, Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, has said that authority should continue to reside in the South during the upcoming term.
It was stated that previous President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North-West, was replaced by President Bola Tinubu, who is from the South-West.
Although there have been discussions over the 2027 presidential candidate’s region, particularly in light of the recently established coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Musawa stated that, for the sake of equity, power should continue to reside in southern Nigeria.

Musawa said he hoped Nigeria would ultimately get to a position where candidates are evaluated only on their ability during an appearance on Channels Television on Friday. She did admit that the nation is still a long way off.

She stated, “It makes sense that authority had to move to the South after eight years of President Buhari, who is from the North. You see, in order to establish that kind of balance, power will be with the southern presidency for the next two to four years. Hopefully, power will be with the southern presidency for the following four years.

“Hopefully, that will be resolved one day, and candidates will only be assessed based on their qualifications and contributions. However, for the sake of current politics, power should undoubtedly stay in the southern region of the country for the next four to six years, as we are not yet there. To establish equilibrium, power should remain in the south for the ensuing six years.
