The Yoruba cinema industry’s emerging star, Omotola Odunsi, has passed away.
Akinola ‘Segbowe’ Akano, Odunsi’s coworker, announced her loss in a tribute post via Instagram.
Along with screenshots of their most recent exchange, in which he checked in on Odunsi and she replied that she had been ill but was feeling better, the actor sent pictures of Odunsi.
Segbowe implied that she passed away right after he looked up on her, calling her death “a strange, rude shock.” He also offered her family his sympathy.
“Motola! Odd, yet early that morning I tried to see how you were doing. “You claimed to be okay and back!” he tweeted on Thursday night.
“Omotola, this is a nasty shock! Do well on your journey, sister. May God bless your family.
The cause of death is still a mystery.
A few of her coworkers in the Yoruba film business also paid their final tributes on social media.
On Instagram, singer Portable’s baby mom, Ashabi Simple, expressed her sadness for Odunsi by reminiscing about their recent meeting on a film set and their unmet promises to collaborate on future projects.
“I’m taken aback. One of the greatest actors I’m supporting is you. We agreed to include each other in our upcoming production when I saw you earlier this year when filming Deputy, but you worked hard and didn’t wait to reap the rewards,” she added.
“I recall the evenings when you would talk to me to offer guidance and hope, yet the majority of your wishes we discussed never ever materialized. We cannot challenge you, God; death is profound.
Odunlade Adekola also said, “Jesus Christ,” in response to his trainee’s passing. Rest in peace, Omotola.
During her 200-level year at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Odunsi started her acting career by appearing in stage dramas. She then met actor Adekola at a training audition, where she was chosen and trained under his tutelage. In 2023, she received her degree.
She has since starred in a number of movies, such as “Officer Adaeze,” “Lisabi: The Uprising,” “Amonata,” “Ayanmo Ire,” and “Ifedayo.”
