Tinubu Departs Abuja for Two-Nation Visit: Nigeria President’s Diplomatic Tour Update

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja on Thursday, August 14, for a two-nation diplomatic trip to Japan and Brazil. The President will stop over in Dubai, UAE, before proceeding to Japan.

In Japan, Tinubu will attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama from August 20 to 22. With the theme “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” the conference will focus on Africa’s economic transformation, private investment, innovation, and promoting a resilient and sustainable African society.

During his visit, Tinubu will participate in plenary sessions, hold bilateral meetings, and meet CEOs of Japanese companies with investments in Nigeria. TICAD, initiated in 1993 by Japan and co-hosted with the UN, UNDP, African Union Commission, and World Bank, is a triennial forum fostering high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners.

After TICAD9, President Tinubu will proceed to Brasilia, Brazil, for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25, following an invitation by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. While in Brazil, Tinubu will hold bilateral talks, attend a business forum, and explore opportunities to strengthen cooperation through agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Brazilian government.
