Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, will give the party a big edge in the 2027 election, according to Dan Ulasi, a PDP chieftain.
In an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Ulasi reportedly stated that the civil war would formally end if the Southeast produced the president.
Stressing that he has nothing to contribute, he also cautioned against former President Goodluck Jonathan rejoining the party and running for office in 2027.
In the event that Jonathan chooses to run for president on the PDP platform, Ulasi predicts that President Bola Tinubu will win easily.
He declared, “The PDP must select a candidate from the South, which must be decided internally. And I believe that the Southeast will now produce the president.
“I think we would have accomplished one thing, which would be the formal end of the civil war, if the PDP didn’t specialize in the Southeast and a Southeasterner were elected president of this nation.
The residents of that area would feel like they belonged for the first time. Thousands of people died in the war we fought, on both sides.
“Peter Obi, we are attempting to reintegrate him into the party; his return would be very beneficial.
“There must be certain attributes that Peter Obi possesses that the vast majority of people think, if put to good use, will make this nation far better than it is now… if that is the case.
“I wish Jonathan the best of luck as he has completed six years.” Tinubu will easily win if he want to rejoin the party because he has nothing else to contribute.
