Flying Eagles Depart for Chile to Finalize Preparations Ahead of 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup

In order to further up preparations for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, left Abuja on Sunday night for Santiago, Chile.
The 2025 U-20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on September 27 and end on October 19, according to reports.

After spending the last month in camp in Abuja, the seven-time African champions will spend two weeks in Chile for a training camp. In order to assist the players adjust to the distinct climate, altitude, and playing conditions in South America, their program includes warm-up matches against local clubs.

Nigeria, along with Saudi Arabia, Norway, and Colombia, has been assigned to Group F. On September 29, the Flying Eagles play Norway to start their season. Three days later, they play Saudi Arabia. On October 5, they play Colombia in their final group-stage match, which could be crucial to their advancement.

Goalie Ebenezer Harcourt of Sporting Lagos and Kparobo Arierhi of Norwegian team Mjøndalen IF are among the mix of domestic and international players that head coach Aliyu Zubairu has brought together. Adamu Ba’aba Maigari, a defender, will not be in the team, nevertheless, as he has a knee injury.

On September 19, Zubairu is anticipated to announce his final 21-man roster.

The Nigerian Flying Eagles, who have placed second in the competition twice, in 1989 and 2005, will be hoping to win the coveted trophy in this upcoming tournament.
