Police Respond After German National Attacked by Hoodlum in Abuja

While running in the Maitama neighborhood of Abuja on Saturday morning, a thugs attacked a German national.
The attacker allegedly robbed the victim of his phone and other possessions at around eight in the morning along IBB Way, close to Maitama Primary School.

Two men on a motorcycle allegedly harassed the victim, according to claims from a local resident named Mathew Jamea, who stated that he worked in the neighborhood.

Another local witness, however, maintained that the assailant was acting alone.

Police Verify the Incident
Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, told reporters that the thugs were a single assailant when contacted.

The victim’s phone was taken by the thief, who was by himself. She told Daily Trust that the police had been notified of the situation and that an investigation was underway to find the phone.

Residents of the FCT have reportedly voiced their concerns about what they perceive to be escalating levels of insecurity in the country’s capital.

Hannah Isayah, a public servant, identified concerns that required immediate government intervention, including armed robbery, child abduction in satellite towns, phone and bike snatchers, and “one chance” thieves.

“One chance” robbers, bike and phone snatchers, armed robbers, and child snatching in some of the satellite towns are among the insecurity dangers,” she stated.

In response, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has started cleaning up shanties thought to be home to criminals in some areas of the city and established a special task force to address insecurity.

As you may remember, the US Embassy had already issued a warning to its nationals about the dangers of visiting government and military installations in Abuja.
