Kano District Head Killed in Fatal Road Accident

Alhaji Idris Dankabo, the Kabo District Head and the traditional Sarkin Gabas title holder in Kano State, has died.
According to reports, the 48-year-old traditional leader passed away Thursday night in Kano City after a horrifying car accident.

In a statement posted on the official Sanusi Dynasty Facebook page, the Kano Emirate Council confirmed Dankabo’s death.

His passing was characterized by the council as a great loss to the Emirate and the Kano people.

The Kano Emir is slated to preside over the funeral prayers for the late traditional ruler, which will take place at his palace this Friday at 10 a.m.

Dankabo’s wife and two kids survive him.

The late Alhaji Muhammad Adamu Dankabo, the chairman of the now-defunct Kabo Air and Jarma of Kano, had an eldest son named Sarkin Gabas.

Many people consider the Dankabo family to be among Kano’s most powerful, with the patriarch holding significant positions in politics, industry, and philanthropy.

Founded in 1980, Kabo Air provided domestic, regional, and international flights before reducing its operations in the 2000s to concentrate mostly on Hajj and charter services.

According to reports, the late Idris Dankabo held the senior post of Sarkin Gabas, which has administrative and cultural duties within the Kano Emirate hierarchy.

His untimely passing at such a young age would leave a void in the emirate’s traditional leadership, which is one of the most powerful organizations in Northern Nigeria.
