APC Primary: Oyebanji Unshaken by Kayode Ojo’s Candidacy

Ahead of the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary elections on October 27, former lawmaker Bimbo Daramola, who represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1, stated that the state’s governor, Biodun Oyebanji, is not deterred by Kayode Ojo, a fellow candidate.

The rumor that Oyebanji banned state cabinet officials and local government chairmen from hosting Kayode Ojo and other candidates in their communities because the governor was a Democrat, he said, was wrong.

Speaking to reporters in Ado-Ekiti, Daramola stated that Oyebanji only voiced his opinions and that the governor is entitled to contextualize his views on any matter.

Speaking about the ongoing division within the party, Daramola insisted that the APC is not in crisis and that the current governor would easily win the primary.

In response to a question on which primary election format could work best for Oyebanji, he firmly stated that the governor has the capacity to defeat other candidates regardless of whether the party chooses to have an indirect or direct primary election.

Additionally, he denounced those who criticized the governor for bringing a big group of stakeholders to the APC Secretariat in Abuja to submit his nomination form, claiming that the state’s helmsman is a beloved incumbent governor rather than a lone ranger.

“Oyebanji is not nervous or apprehensive about anyone,” he stated. If you are referring to my brother and buddy, Kayode Ojo, he is well aware of himself. What does he wish to accomplish for the people of Ekiti, according to him?

However, since Kayode is a buddy of mine, I don’t want to discuss him too much. I’m not talking as if I don’t know him because I have a lot of respect for him and we have a great relationship.

“I shall treat Kayode Ojo with the same respect that I gave Governor Biodun Oyebanji when he was merely an audience member, but I will speak to the facts in this instance.

“Is a man scared that he said to bring on the primary? Who’s scared? No! Let me tell you, the ability to make decisions varies in every community. We live in a society with people of many types and varying degrees of understanding. You can’t tell me that I’m here at this level and that you’ll give me a pass.

“I understand why I don’t have an appointment. I still participate in that pool, though. When I enter that pool, they know when to humble themselves and announce my name. Many people will remark, “We recognize this name, we know this name,” when I enter the highest pool in this nation. You expect me to think like someone who has never left Igirigiri, and there is no question about it.
