According to Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, President Bola Tinubu’s administration poses a bigger threat to democratic governance than any of Nigeria’s prior military regimes.
El-Rufai made this claim while entertaining former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar at his home over the weekend. He denounced the Tinubu administration and called it a disgrace to democracy itself.
According to reports, Atiku visited former Governor El-Rufai in support after an attack took place during the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) inauguration in Kaduna State.
Remember how the inauguration was interrupted by thugs who barged into the venue?
El-Rufai and the Kaduna State government, meantime, had been exchanging barbs about the matter and accused one another of being responsible for the attack.
To be honest, sir, that is even a disgrace in my opinion. In other words, if people are acting in this manner, it means that all of the years of claiming to support democracy and NADECO, striving for true federalism, and other such assertions were all a lie. because rather than giving authority to the lower levels, this government (Tinubu’s administration) is attempting to centralize everything.
All in all, we are dealing with a problem so significant in this nation’s history that Tinubu will attempt to become our Paul Biya if we don’t band together and overthrow his regime by 2027. This is how Paul Biya got his start, and all the symptoms are there,” El-Rufai stated.
