‘It’s Justice, Not Charity’ – Peter Obi Demands Support for Families of Slain Officers

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has bemoaned the rise in killings of security guards nationwide.
On Tuesday, he denounced violence against Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps members, police officers, soldiers, and vigilante groups via his 𝕏 handle.

The former governor of Anambra State emphasized that the nation should not undervalue the sacrifices made by security personnel.

“With the reported unfortunate killings of our security personnel, the nation is once again in mourning. Obi stated, “Our men and women in uniform have sacrificed their lives for the safety and stability of our beloved country, paying the ultimate price in the line of duty.”

He maintained that security must be the cornerstone of governance and called on leaders at all levels to act quickly to adequately equip and inspire security personnel.

He asserts that Nigeria cannot keep burying its security forces and ignoring their families. He emphasized that the dependents of fallen policemen must receive sufficient support and compensation.

“It is the duty of our government to make sure that the spouses, kids, and parents of these slain heroes receive just compensation and assistance. The least a thankful country can do is that. It is justice, not charity,” Obi continued.

The former governor prayed for the dead operatives’ souls to rest in peace and promised their families assistance and solidarity.

“May the souls of all fallen heroes rest in eternal peace.” We shall always remember your patriotism and sacrifice. You are not alone, families that have been left behind. “May God continue to give you comfort and strength,” he said.
