Katsina Assembly Moves to Ban School Graduation Parties

The state government has been encouraged to forbid graduation ceremonies in all of the state’s schools by the Katsina State House of Assembly.

Under the direction of Abduljal Runka, the deputy speaker, the resolution was adopted during Tuesday’s plenary session in Katsina.

Speaking on behalf of the Zango constituency, Tasi’u Musa-Maigari introduced the motion, stating that these kinds of events frequently lead to social vices and raise security issues throughout the state.

Since a ban on graduation ceremonies will help maintain peace and order, he urged other parliamentarians to approve the motion.

Katsina constituency representative Aliyu Abubakar-Albaba supported the resolution and urged the government to address the growing issue of phone snatching immediately.

Since the threat has expanded and might get out of control if left unchecked, he said that quick action was required to stop it.

The proposals, which emphasized the necessity of prompt action to protect citizens throughout the state, were unanimously approved by the house following discussions.

In order to take the appropriate measures, the deputy speaker instructed the clerk to forward the house resolutions to the executive branch.

Ibrahim Ishaq, permanent member “I” of the State Universal Basic Education Board, was also called to be fired by the house during the same plenary.

The resolution came after the house leader, Shamsuddeen Abubakar-Dabai, tabled a motion of urgent public interest.

According to Mr. Abubakar-Dabai, Ishaq’s reported unguarded comment against the assembly during a public gathering was the reason for the call.

He pointed out that Ishaq had previously been asked by the parliament to clarify the remarks, and he allegedly acknowledged saying them.

The house recommended the executive to remove Ishaq from his position, citing the severity of the misbehavior and legal provisions.

After the motion was approved, the deputy speaker gave the clerk instructions to send the resolution to the executive branch for any necessary implementation.
