Resumption: Senate to Decide Natasha’s Fate on October 7 – Akpabio’s Aide Okolugbo

On October 7, 2025, the Senate will decide whether or not Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended legislator, will return to her formal duties.

In an appearance on Channels TV on Wednesday, Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant, Communication and Strategy, Office of the Senate President, revealed this.

As you may remember, on March 6, 2025, Natasha, the senator from Kogi Central, was suspended for six months for allegedly breaking Senate regulations.

She accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, a charge he has rejected, and this led to her suspension.

The lawmaker’s office was opened on Tuesday after the six-month suspension ended.

It was unclear, nonetheless, whether the member had been permitted to return to her official legislative duties in spite of ongoing legal proceedings.

“Every other decision will be taken by the senators when they resume on the 7th of October,” Okolugbo replied when asked if Natasha had only been granted access to her office and had not returned to her formal duties.

Since the ban has ended, Okolugbo praised the upper parliamentary chamber’s leadership for opening Natasha’s office and emphasized that she has the “right to go to her office.”

Since her six-month ban has ended, she has been granted access to her office and is fully entitled to visit it.

“The Senate leadership made a smart choice, even though the case is still in the court of appeals,” he continued.

The Senate is now in recess and is scheduled to return to plenary on October 7, 2025, according to reports.
