The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, claims that the South East governors have not deserted Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.
This was said by Governor Otti at a press conference in the state capital of Umuahia on Thursday evening.
He emphasized that not all efforts are intended for public disclosure and stated that the governors are actively working with the appropriate authorities to obtain Kanu’s release.
Since it could throw the process off course, some of the engagements and guarantees we have received are not intended for public consumption.
But in my capacity as his governor, I’m leading the charge to make sure he returns home. “All of the governors from the South East are on the same page,” Otti stated.
This clarification comes one day after Igbo elders from all over the South East protested Kanu’s ongoing incarceration at Government House in Umuahia.
The elders urged Otti to mobilize his comrades to speak with President Bola Tinubu about the issue and accused the zone’s political leaders of ignoring the IPOB leader.
