Any member found to be disrespecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi or undermining party unity will face consequences, the Jigawa State branch of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has warned.
In order to demonstrate their allegiance to the governor, State Deputy Chairman Alhaji Nasiru Dahiru Jahun led a state delegation that included the State Executive Committee members and party chairmen from each of the 27 local government districts.
Alhaji Jahun, who acknowledged Governor Namadi as the acknowledged head of the APC in Jigawa State, stated during the visit that they were at the Government House to renew their allegiance to him.
He declared that the state’s party leadership is still fully in favor of Governor Namadi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, supporting both candidates for a second term in 2027.
The party officials also praised the Governor Namadi administration, calling it historic in Jigawa’s development journey for its “wonderful transformation and unprecedented achievements within just two years.”
Jahun also issued a warning, saying the party will not think twice about punishing any member whose behavior betrays disdain for the state leadership or undermines unity.
“We are as loyal to the governor as the comical character ‘Maha’ is to his teacher; we will do anything Malam says and follow him wherever he leads us,” he stated.
Governor Namadi responded by expressing gratitude to the APC leadership for their support and promising to continue working with the party.
He reaffirmed his dedication to treating party members equally throughout the state.
The governor added that the implementation of developmental projects and people-oriented policies are the main priorities of the APC’s federal and state governments.
However, factions loyal to incumbent Governor Umar Namadi and former Governor and Minister of Defense Muhammad Badaru Abubakar have publicly clashed, with their supporters exchanging harsh words in recent days, escalating the already simmering tension within the Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The dispute, which had been subtly growing since the state’s power shift in 2023, is now escalating into a public altercation and endangering the state’s ruling party’s unity.
According to observers, if the problem is not handled wisely, it may make the APC less dominant in Jigawa before the 2027 elections.
But neither former Governor Badaru nor Governor Namadi have directly addressed the crisis in a statement.
