In order to resolve the conflict between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, or PENGASSAN, Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has urged President Bola Tinubu to issue an executive order.
According to Ndume, he won’t object if Tinubu takes authoritarian measures to see that the problem is resolved.
PENGASSAN gave its members instructions to down tools over the Dangote Refinery’s 800 workers on Saturday.
In response, Ndume urged the president to move decisively and call off the union.
“The best thing is for the president to sign an executive order calling them off,” Ndume stated during his appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday.
“He is able to dissolve them.” Since some circumstances call for really drastic measures, I don’t object if he acts like a dictator in this instance.
Instead of serving the public interest, he charged PENGASSAN with serving commercial interests.
According to Ndume, he has long opposed “so-called unionism” that puts the interests of a select few ahead of those of the nation.
