Akwa Ibom Government Denies Gov Eno Ordered Withdrawal of Udom Emmanuel’s Security Detail

The government of Akwa Ibom State has refuted claims that Governor Umo Eno gave the order to remove security guards associated with his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel.

Earlier, Steve Abia, the governor’s special assistant, told reporters that no governor has the authority to order newsmen to leave, and he was unable to determine who issued the order.

On Sunday, State House media in Uyo were informed by Information Commissioner Aniekan Umanah that Eno was not involved in the removal of Emmanuel’s security details.

“The Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in each state are solely responsible for the deployment, reassignment, or withdrawal of police officers; no governor has any authority over this matter,” he stated.

“I have good authority to inform you that Governor Umo Eno did not order the immediate former governor to remove security personnel.”

All past Akwa Ibom State governors still have their legal security details, the commissioner continued.

“As far as we are aware, no former governor or their media representatives have complained or reported anything regarding the security personnel’s departure. According to Umanah, the rumor is merely a product of the imagination of those who spread it.

He advised people to ignore what he described as “baseless propaganda,” emphasizing that Governor Eno is still committed to advancing harmony, peace, and sound government throughout the state.
