Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has left the government of President Bola Tinubu.
His resignation came after he was accused of forging certificates.
Recall that Nnaji did not finish his university education, according to a PREMIUM TIMES investigation, and that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate and bachelor’s degree he gave to President Tinubu, the Senate, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) were all fake.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, announced the departure.
He stated that the minister’s choice to voluntarily step down and resign has been accepted by the president.
Following several accusations against Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Onanuga claims that President Tinubu “accepted his resignation.”
“President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023,” he recalled. In a letter thanking the president for letting him serve Nigeria, he announced his resignation today (Tuesday).
The former minister was also cited by the presidential spokesman as stating that he had “been a target of blackmail by political opponents.”
The statement further stated that President Tinubu wished him well in his future endeavors and thanked him for his service.
