Troops Kill Nine Terrorists, Recover N5 Million Ransom in Borno

Operation Hadin Kai, or OPHK, troops killed at least nine militants on Friday while conducting a combat patrol in Borno State’s Magumeri and Gajiram regions.

The Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, made this announcement on Saturday.

He said the raid also recovered N5 million in cash that had been paid as ransom.

It was alleged that the terrorists terrorized the people by burning houses while traveling in two trucks and 24-foot fighters. In a quick move, their own soldiers intercepted the threat by launching an offensive fighting patrol.

“The terrorists made an attempt to escape via Damjiyakiri village as the troops moved closer to the goal. Fighters in vehicles scattered to an unidentified area, and fighters on foot were pursued for around 92 kilometers.

The attackers were apprehended by forces following a tactical pursuit that lasted approximately four hours. There was an immediate frontal assault, and the military opened fire on the terrorists, killing five of them as the other nineteen scattered. He stated that blood trails were seen at the collision scene, indicating that several people were injured.

Items collected from the engagement include one AK-47 weapon (Reg. No. 06798), five magazines (two loaded, three empty), 31 x 7.62mm rounds, one Itel cell phone, and one dagger, the statement continued.

It went on to say that during the operation, the OPHK forces reported no casualties or losing any equipment.
