Former PDP Youth Leader Sunday Udeh-Okoye Resigns from Party

On Sunday, Udeh-Okoye, a former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), formally resigned from the party.

According to reports, Udeh-Okoye claimed that his decision to leave the PDP was motivated by dissatisfaction and accused the party of straying from the principles and goals of its founders.

In a letter to the PDP Ward Chairman in Agbogugu Ward, Awgu Local Government Area, Enugu State, he announced his resignation.

I would want to formally submit my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the letter states.

“This choice was not made hastily. The PDP has played a crucial role in my political career by providing me with the priceless chance to run for office and hold the positions of National Youth Leader, Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, and, most recently, National Secretary.

I am still incredibly appreciative of the party, its lenders, and all of its members for these benefits of service and trust.

But as time has gone on, I have become more and more concerned about the erosion of the PDP’s founding fathers’ vision and values, which were based on the concepts of equity, justice, and unity.

Unfortunately, the PDP, which once offered hope for democratic administration, has lost its ideological focus and moral compass.

“After giving it a lot of thought, I have decided that I can no longer honestly continue to be a part of a system that has deviated so greatly from its original intent.

“As a result, I am forced to leave the PDP and set out on a progressive path aimed at reestablishing the principles of democracy, accountability, and public service that the party has regrettably abandoned.”
