The Igbo sociocultural group Ohanaeze Ndigbo has pledged to protect Works Minister David Umahi against plots hatched by President Bola Tinubu’s critics.
The group claimed that Umahi is a great gift from Tinubu to the Igbo people in a statement released on Monday by Chinyereze Thompson Ohia and Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the factional Deputy President-General.
According to Ohanaeze, Umahi’s recent appointment as Minister of Works breaks a 74-year-old curse and goes beyond simple political symbolism because he is the first Igbo person to occupy this esteemed position since 1947.
The statement, which was based on reliable intelligence, claims that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has learned of plans to launch a campaign of distraction and blackmail against three of President Tinubu’s most capable cabinet ministers, with Senator Umahi unfairly placed as the main target on their list.
“It is important to note that there are malicious plots aimed at undermining and discrediting Senator Umahi in his capacity as Minister of Works,” the statement says in part. However, the Nigerian people continue to support Senator Umahi in his efforts to fulfill his constitutional obligations and mandate, therefore those who oppose democracy and support good governance will not be able to rest easy.
Millions of Nigerians have admired the minister for his remarkable work in just 25 months, especially as evidence of the federal roads being built shows that they are more than 80% guaranteed to last thanks to excellent cement technology.
“Senator Umahi’s political persecution stems from both his unwavering commitment as a supporter of President Tinubu and his disciplined character as an Igbo guy. His steadfast commitment guarantees that, in carrying out his responsibilities as Minister of Works, he upholds the highest standards of ethics and governance.
“While simultaneously commemorating the historic moment of having a Grade A Minister of Works, the first of his kind since the ministry’s inception under Abubakar Tafawa Balewa between 1951 and 1954,” Ndigbo pledges to remain steadfast in their support of President Tinubu’s leadership for a full, uninterrupted term until 2031.
